Brandon Crawford Resumes Baseball Activities Thursday

As the San Francisco Giants attempt to turn their season around, good news could make Thursday’s loss feel a little better.

Shortstop Brandon Crawford, recovering from a knee injury, resumed baseball activities on Thursday, albeit light. After a cortisone shot for left knee inflammation, the 35-year-old has made encouraging progress. The earliest he can return from the 10-day injured list is July 26.

The bat hasn’t been there for Crawford this year after an explosive 2021. Despite his 82 wRC+, he’s been a net positive for San Francisco due to his defensive prowess. He still means a lot to a team fighting for its playoff life. DraftKings is currently offering +135 odds for the Giants to make the playoffs, which becomes more plausible if Crawford is productive upon his return.
