Shortstop Brandon Crawford, recovering from a knee injury, resumed baseball activities on Thursday, albeit light. After a cortisone shot for left knee inflammation, the 35-year-old has made encouraging progress. The earliest he can return from the 10-day injured list is July 26.
The bat hasn’t been there for Crawford this year after an explosive 2021. Despite his 82 wRC+, he’s been a net positive for San Francisco due to his defensive prowess. He still means a lot to a team fighting for its playoff life.
