Jonathan Taylor To Sit Out Preseason

Indianapolis Colts fans won’t have the gut-wrenching luxury of watching their star player get tackled in meaningless football games this summer.

Running back Jonathan Taylor will not play in the preseason, according to head coach Frank Reich. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise given his intense workload last season and potential for more in 2022.

“I’m not saying he won’t lead the league in touches,” said Reich. “But I almost don’t want him to.”

It’s clear Indianapolis values Taylor’s health, even if he is their workhorse back. The offense will largely run through him, so any unnecessary risk is just that…unnecessary.

FanDuel‘s -126 odds on Taylor surpassing 12.5 touchdowns is still a safe bet, especially now that bettors won’t have to worry about additional wear and tear before Week 1.
