Joshua Kelley Taking The Lead For RB2 Duties

The Los Angeles Chargers seem to be set virtually everywhere on the offense. At least when it comes to the starters.

The backups, however, are another story. Joshua Kelley is the incumbent complementary back to Austin Ekeler, but rookie Isaiah Spiller was seen as a frontrunner for the job early in camp. Kelley played well against the Rams, accumulating 44 yards on six touches, and seems to have the eye of the coaching staff.

“He’s been sharp mentally,” said offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi. “He’s running hard, decisive. It’s been a really good camp for him.”

With Kelley’s stock seemingly on the rise, an adverse effect has taken to Spiller’s Offensive Rookie of the Year chances. At +4500 (DraftKings), Spiller should not be viewed as a serious candidate for the award. If you want to take a long shot, a better option may be Brian Robinson Jr. (+4000) or Desmond Ridder (+2500).
