Justin Steele Pitches Through Blister On Monday

Chicago Cubs left-handed pitcher Justin Steele (finger) had a strong outing against the San Diego Padres on Monday, despite pitching through a blister on his left middle finger. The 26-year-old tossed seven innings and allowed six hits, no walks and one earned run while striking out three. He suffered a blister on his left middle finger in the first inning of the game after he attempted to field a comebacker. Trainers came onto the field and cut the skin off his blister so it wouldn’t tear. After the game, Steele stated that he pain was manageable for him so he kept throwing. He’s now earned quality starts in two straight outings and he has a 4.33 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP on the year. His next start will be against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.
