Max Scherzer Throws 65 Pitches In Rehab Outing

New York Mets starting pitcher Max Scherzer is taken out because of an injury

New York Mets starting pitcher Max Scherzer (oblique) tossed 65 pitches over 3 1/3 innings for Double-A Binghamton on Tuesday in his minor league rehab start, giving up three hits (one homer) and two earned runs while walking one and striking out six. Scherzer is working his way back from a left oblique strain on May 18 that landed him on the injured list, and he’s expected to make his next start for the Mets. If the team clears him to rejoin the rotation, the 37-year-old should make his next start this Sunday against the Miami Marlins. The three-time Cy Young winner will be a bit more risky for fantasy managers in his first start back, but before his injury he was the typical dominant Scherzer, going 5-1 with a 2.54 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 59 strikeouts and 11 walks in 49 2/3 frames over eight starts.
