Mookie Betts Likely To Return Before All-Star Break

Mookie Betts, Los Angeles Dodgers right fielder

Dodgers fans, you can exhale now. After star outfield Mookie Betts suffered a cracked rib, the Dodgers already somehow anemic offense continued to spiral. The team has struggled in June, but manager Dave Roberts is “very optimistic” that Betts will make his return to the lineup before the All-Star break on July 16.

According to Roberts, the 29-year-old could be limited to serving as the team’s primary designated hitter as throwing has been more bothersome for him than swinging. Betts has been on the injured list since June 18 and just began resuming baseball activities on Wednesday.

The former Boston Red Sox outfielder slashed .273/.349/.535 with 17 home runs, 40 RBI, 53 runs scored, and six stolen bases across 275 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Betts and expect him to return to the active roster soon. Eddy Alvarez and Trayce Thompson will continue to see an uptick in at-bats while Betts is sidelined.
