Salvador Perez Exits Early Tuesday With Thumb Injury

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez celebrates after hitting a two-run home run

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez (thumb) was replaced by Cam Gallagher in the third inning of Tuesday’s game against the Angels after seemingly hurting his thumb hitting, per Royals TV announcer Joel Goldberg. This is not a great sign, as Perez has already made a trip to the injured list once this season with a sprained left thumb. Fantasy managers should look for more updates after the game and in the coming day, but should start considering alternative options in the event that Perez has to miss additional time. The backstop has slashed .211/.254/.426 with 11 home runs and 34 RBI so far this season.
