Anthony’s Super Bowl Selections: Picks, Props, and Parlays

We couldn’t have asked for a better matchup to conclude such a wonderful season. The Kansas City Chiefs inch closer to forever, led by a quarterback chasing the greatest to ever do it. Their coach returns home. Their superstar tight end faces off against his older brother. The first-born headlines the best offensive line in football, protecting a blossoming young quarterback and the most versatile, lethal rushing attack in football. A win on Sunday would be the second Philadelphia Eagles championship in six seasons, despite different faces under center, outside, and wearing the headsets.

One game left to play means one game left to profit on. Let’s have some fun on Sunday.

Who is going to win the Super Bowl?

This heavyweight fight is shaping up to be one of the best finales in recent memory. The appointed home team, Philadelphia, is only favored by 1.5. They boast an elite defense and a rushing attack only paralleled by Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens. They are decidedly more talented, subsequent to general manager Howie Roseman’s wizardry and the burden of Mahomes’ contract.

Then again, they’re barely favored to win. At -125, a winning bet on an Eagles victory would need $125 down to profit $100. The reason why is simple.

Patrick Mahomes is the best player on the planet, and it isn’t particularly close. It hasn’t been for some time now. It won’t be close for a while. If you’d like to bet on Mahomes to win, either the game, the MVP, or both, be sure to use Caesar’s promotion for Bet Basics readers: GET YOUR FIRST BET BACK UP TO $1,000.

We’ve seen Mahomes lose a Super Bowl before–to the aforementioned GOAT. That shouldn’t be the case on Sunday. Head coach Andy Reid has had two weeks to prepare a game day meal worth waiting for. Mahomes has continued to recover from an ankle injury that knocked him down a peg. His injury took him from the best quarterback in football to…the best quarterback in football. He’s Superman, and I expect him to play like it on Sunday.

The advantage under center is the most important one in Kansas City’s favor, but it can be acknowledged without tearing down Jalen Hurts. His development has been significant, support cast be damned. If you can’t acknowledge the growth he’s made as a passer and a player, you haven’t been watching the Eagles.

Hurts’ passing acumen will add another layer of difficulty to defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s plate. However, this Chiefs defense is hot and few call a better game than Spagnuolo. Their young contributors made the difference against Cincinnati and will be forced to show up again. If they do enough to give Mahomes an opportunity at the end, they’ll have won themselves a Super Bowl.

The Pick: Chiefs +1.5 (-110)

The Winner: Chiefs (+105)

The Total: Over 51 (-110)

What are the best Super Bowl props?

There is no greater slate of props to bet on than the Super Bowl. From player props to novelty dart throws, some of these bets take research, others take supreme confidence in a higher power.

Passing Prop: Mahomes Over 293.5 (-117)

I don’t expect Kansas City to run away with this one, and they love to throw while ahead. There are multiple avenues to a big day from 15, regardless of the final score.

Rushing Prop: Mahomes Over 19.5 (-119)

Mahomes is the most successful runner I’ve ever seen on third and fourth down. Every time he needs just enough, he gets it. In a hard fought game, I expect clutch late down scrambles to be plentiful.

Receiving Prop: Kelce Over 7.5 (+108)

Anytime Touchdown Scorer: Kelce (-114)

Touchdown Parlay: Hurts, Kelce, Sanders (+1000)

This one’s a bit of a longshot, but it feels like Hurts sneaks his way into the end zone once a game. Travis Kelce is equally inevitable and easily the Chiefs’ favorite target in the red zone. With Philadelphia’s proclivity for the ground game, there should be a handful of opportunities for Miles Sanders to dance in the end zone, whether it be on an explosive run or a red zone finish.

Coin Toss: PLEASE DON’T BET ON THE COIN TOSS!

I know the coin toss is a 50-50 shot. You know the coin toss is a 50-50 shot. The odds don’t give you a 50-50 shot. Make a wager with the cute girl at the party instead.

BASIC TIPS

The Super Bowl is the biggest day of the year for the sportsbooks. Be careful! Like the coin toss bet, most bets are made to make the book money, not to offer you a fair shot at winning. Inflated odds for parlays and various novelty bets are better off being ignored for bets that you are able to research and feel confident in. For example, taking either team to cover the spread (Philadelphia to win by at least two or Kansas City to avoid losing by two) is likely a better bet than the gatorade cooler or a long shot parlay placed on a whim.
