Carlos Rodón Is a Bad Man (Sometimes)
Few, if any, left-handed pitchers are as intimidating on the mound as Carlos Rodón. It took him a while to overcome his injuries, but he's established himself as a true ace and a strikeout artist, even as a relatively late bloomer for professional standards.
Rodón's stuff saw legitimate improvement during the 2021 season, where his fastball velocity continued to climb and carried through the zone better. With the improved stuff came improved results and a more confident pitcher. From there, it was easy to see the southpaw blossom into an imposing figure.
On the mound, Rodón is as competitive as he is deceptive and as intense as he is talented. He'll get pumped up and let you see/hear it on your way back to the bench. It's unapologetic and, frankly, good for the sport.
It's not, however, a constant for Rodón. As his wife joked about on Twitter after he told a batter to sit down (in slightly more explicit terms), he's the same guy who plays tea party in his free time.
It's nice to know he's well-rounded.
