Jeff McNeil: Multi-Sport Athlete
It should not surprise anyone to learn that Jeff McNeil is an incredibly versatile player. He's played second base, third base, and both corner outfield spots during his time with the New York Mets. As it turns out, he's really good at a lot of things.
McNeil played golf as a teen, dreaming of the PGA Tour. In fact, he was so good at golf that it was his priority; he didn't play high school ball until his final season. Unfortunately for McNeil, a poor showing at the 2009 Amateur Golf Championship ended those dreams,
McNeil's golf influence has stayed with him, though, playing into his flexible swing that would lead the league in batting in 2022. The competitive drive he shared between the two sports extends to some other activities, too.
The utility man is an avid poker player, and even has his own poker club back hope in California. One might expect a high-roller like McNeil to play with the big shots, but his club is strict in its criminally small buy-in. The man just wants to play some cards with his friends.
Rumor has it he's pretty good at taking his friends' money, too.
