Joey Gallo's Glory Days
By Anthony Licciardi
Joey Gallo is no stranger to prolonged struggles as a professional hitter, but there’s no doubting the talent he’s showcased. From the rocket arm to his feat of 100 home runs before 100 singles, few offer more jaw-dropping skills than Gallo.
As it turns out, talent has its privileges. One of which is some pretty crazy stories.
Like many Major Leaguers, regardless of professional position, Gallo pitched in high school. He even threw a no-hitter, and it may not have been the best part of his day.
Later that evening, he took his date to prom. The lucky lady? Paige Maddux, daughter of all-time great starting pitcher Greg Maddux.
Gallo admitted his performance earlier that day was a pretty good way to break the ice. Surprisingly enough, the teenager was the only one in the room who had thrown a no-hitter, at least at the highest level that each of them had pitched at.
Good for Gallo for not peaking in high school, it would’ve been understandable. I told you the guy was talented.
