Did Harrison Barnes Pick the Wrong Sport?
Harrison Barnes had a trip to India on his bucket list. Like any good tourist, he embraced the culture during his trip. The Sacramento Kings and the Indiana Pacers were scheduled for two preseason games there in 2019, and Barnes took the opportunity to scout out the country ahead of time.
In doing so, he found himself playing cricket. Soon a crowd of children emerged. They weren't asking for autographs or tips on how to nail the corner three. They weren't wearing Kings gear, either.
The group of 45 was full of cricket enthusiast, looking to advance their careers. Seeing a large man with a natural talent for the sport made him mistaken for an evaluator, recruiting kids from the street.
Barnes isn't in the talent evaluation game, at least not yet. And certainly not for cricket. He looked back on the memory fondly, praising the people and the culture via social media. His Kings were well-prepared for their trip the following August. They have a cricket evaluator to thank.
