Born to Play
Every parent wants their child to be successful. They all have high hopes. In the case of Myles Turner though, let's say his parents were very confident in their chances to strike gold with their son. Turner's parents sent out a birth announcement for their son that read, "First Round Draft Pick." Naturally, they would be later be proven correct 19 years later, when the Indiana Pacers came calling their son's name on draft night with the 11th overall selection.
The Texas native, Turner has never forgotten those roots in the Lone Star State, and chose to play for the University of Texas Longhorns in college before beginning his NBA journey.
Turner later took his good will to Indianapolis, where he supports the "We All Really Matter" (W.A.R.M.) initiative that is designed for helping the homelessness situation in the local area. It's one of the many reasons that Turner is considered a versatile big man, both on and off the court. Despite facing many trade rumors throughout his stay in Indianapolis, Turner has always kept the focus on basketball, improving every year in the league.
