The Indianapolis Colts went into the offseason in need of both playmakers and a quarterback to facilitate to them. The solution? Matt Ryan and Alec Pierce.
The wide receiver out of Cincinnati has impressed in his first training camp, producing despite coverage from Stephon Gilmore, one of the league’s best corners. He’s trouble at the catch point and offers 4.4 speed with a 6-foot-3 frame. With Michael Pittman Jr. ahead of him on the depth chart and Ryan’s proclivity to target his No. 1 option, Pierce may not produce as much as the league’s top second options. Still, a productive Pierce can stretch the field and find work in the end zone.
Vegas is low on Pierce’s Offensive Rookie of the Year odds at+3000. There’s some value to be had there, especially with the other wide receivers seeing similar problems on the depth chart, despite inflated odds.
