Alex Cobb Will Start Sunday

Alex Cobb

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Alex Cobb (neck) will return from the injured list and start on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Carlos Rodon and Alex Wood will get the first two games of the series in Pittsburgh. Cobb has been on the 15-day injured list with a neck strain, but he completed a successful batting practice session on Tuesday and won’t need to go on a minor league rehab assignment. The 34-year-old right-hander’s 5.73 ERA and 1.49 WHIP over 37 2/3 innings and eight starts don’t look very good, but he does have 47 strikeouts, 12 walks and a 2.64 FIP, so he should be scooped up off the waiver wire if he was dropped due to his injury. He may not be the most attractive DFS streamer in his first start back, but he does have a favorable matchup against the Bucs.
