Arizona Cardinals lock up Kyler Murray with five-year deal

It’s always arid in Arizona, but today Kyler Murray made it rain.

The Arizona Cardinals have come to terms with their star quarterback on a five-year, $230.5 million contract extension. Interestingly enough, only $160 million of it is guaranteed.

It has been a long road to this point with Murray’s uncertain future leading to cryptic social media antics. However, quarterbacks drive the bus, and Arizona had no choice but to give into the 24-year-old phenom’s demands. Murray headlines a top-heavy roster that has struggled to sustain success throughout an entire regular season, a trend that ended in a disastrous 34-11 playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Murray’s known for his short stature, a point of criticism that has followed him despite his ascension to a star in the NFL. Some question whether a Murray-led offense can truly be elite come playoff time. We’ll have the opportunity to watch it play out in red and white over the next half-decade.

Right now, DraftKings is offering +2000 odds on Murray to win the league’s MVP award. It’s no sure bet, but there is one thing we can all agree on: Murray chose the right sport.
