Aroldis Chapman Set For Rehab Assignment

New York Yankees relief pitcher Aroldis Chapman celebrates with catcher Jose Trevino

New York Yankees pitcher Aroldis Chapman (Achilles) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset on either Saturday or Sunday. The 34-year-old has been sidelined since May 22. He has been throwing bullpen sessions and reportedly looked healthy. Before landing on the injured list, the southpaw posted a 3.86 ERA, 1.64 WHIP with nine saves, and a 15:10 K: BB across 14 innings. Barring any setbacks, Chapman should return to action soon but will share ninth-inning duties with Clay Holmes, who has been electric this season. Holmes is a 4-0 with 11 saves while posting a 0.55 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, and a 34:4 K: BB over 31 games in 2022.
