Collin Sexton Cleared For Basketball Activities

Collin Sexton

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton (knee) has been cleared for full basketball activities. It’s a good sign for the team, but especially for Sexton as he will be a restricted free agent when free agency opens in a few weeks. The league is expected to announce June 30th as the day free agency starts, but there is nothing definite at this point.

The 23-year-old Sexton missed most of last season with a torn meniscus in his left knee. It’s unclear whether Sexton or the Cavaliers have any desire for a reunion. After Sexton went down, guard Darius Garland began to shine for the upstart Cavaliers, who ended up losing in the NBA’s play-in tournament.

Regardless, Sexton should be in consideration as a fantasy asset going forward, depending on where he lands. After being drafted by Cleveland four years ago, Sexton is averaging 20.0 points, 3.3 boards, and 2.1 assists while shooting 37.8% from deep in his career. While there is concern over his usage rates and typical extreme willingness to take a lot of shots, Sexton will almost certainly see a decrease in production if he returns to Cleveland.
