Cowboys Want More Tony Pollard Touches

Last year the Dallas Cowboys were surprised twice-over by their running back room. Their starter disappointed and their backup exceeded expectations.

Now, Dallas wants the 25-year-old Tony Pollard to have an even bigger role in the offense. He’s even seen looks at slot receiver, showcasing his ability as a pass catcher. The Cowboys are without Michael Gallup and James Washington, and traded Amari Cooper this offseason, so his presence on passing downs will likely see even more attention.

Unfortunately, the books are aware of the Pollard hype and have largely adjusted to it. However, it’s possible his impact on Ezekiel Elliott’s role has been understated. As a big play threat, Pollard can continue to make a dent in Elliott’s rushes, especially if the offense stagnates. DraftKings is currently offering -115 odds on either side of 8.5 rushing touchdowns. Enough home runs from Pollard can make that under worthwhile.
