Jacob deGrom Tosses 30 Pitches On Tuesday

Milwaukee Brewers at New York Mets

New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom may not be that far away after all. The 33-year-old superstar starting pitcher completed a 30-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday as he continues to work toward a return from a stress reaction in his right shoulder during the spring.

According to Mets beat writer Anthony DiComo, deGrom will throw an “up-and-down” bullpen session on Friday. After Tuesday’s bullpen session, deGrom stated that “everything feels good” while adding, “Hopefully, not too much longer.”

deGrom still remains without a timeline for a return, but it appears as if he could be inching closer to a rehab assignment. It would be a major boost to a Mets rotation that has already lost Max Scherzer to injury, which he continues to rehab from as well. The Mets would certainly welcome those two returning to a team that currently is 41-22 and has a five game lead on the second place Braves in the NL East.
