The hits just keep on coming during training camp and this time, it’s the Cleveland Browns who will suffer. On Tuesday, they lost wide receiver/kick returner Jakeem Grant Sr. to a knee injury, which ended up being a torn ACL. The injury will sideline Grant for the entire 2022 season, an unfortunate outcome for the Pro Bowl return man.
Grant was hoping that his first year in Cleveland would also lead to an expanded role in the offense, something he hasn’t been known for throughout his career. The Browns’ special teams unit will have to endure the major loss as a result, which is also a big blow to the team’s receiving depth as well.
With the 29-year-old Grant sidelined, Demetric Felton is in line to earn the kick-return role, but he is in no way comparable to the impact player Grant would’ve been. Expect plenty of touchbacks and poorer starting field position for the Browns in 2022.
