James McCann To Begin Rehab Assignment Wednesday

James McCann

New York Mets catcher James McCann (wrist) is set to begin a minor league rehab assignment at Double-A Binghamton on Thursday. According to Mets beat writer Anthony DiComo, McCann is hopeful that the assignment won’t take long. McCann underwent surgery on his left hamate bone in mid-May. The initial estimate was that he would miss six weeks, so it looks like he could wind up beating that preliminary timeline. The 32-year-old has only appeared in 21 games so far this year. He’s slashed .196/.266/.286 with one home run, six RBI and five runs.
