Jesse Winker Agrees To Two-Year Deal To Avoid Arbitration

Jesse Winker

The Seattle Mariners and outfielder Jesse Winker avoided salary arbitration on Thursday by agreeing to a two-year, $14.5 million deal. He’ll receive $6.25 million this year and $8.25 million in 2023 with a chance to earn an extra $400,000 in bonuses next season. Winker was acquired in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds in March, and he remains a part of the team’s future despite hitting just .214 with 19 runs scored, nine doubles, four home runs, 24 RBI and an American League-leading 38 walks in 264 plate appearances over 61 games so far in 2021. The 28-year-old was an All-Star last year with the Reds when he had career-highs in average (.305), hits (129), doubles (32), home runs (24) and RBI (71).
