Knicks Emerging As Favorites For Jalen Brunson

Jalen Brunson

There is some good news for New York Knicks fans. The team has emerged as the favorites to sign free-agent guard Jalen Brunson. On Tuesday, it was announced that the team was trading center Nerlens Noel and guard Alec Burks to the Detroit Pistons, clearing up $19 million in salary cap space.

That was only one of many moves the Knicks have made in the last week to try and secure enough cap space and flexibility for a run at Brunson. Reports indicate that the team is prepared to offer him a contract around $110 million over four years. Brunson took a major step forward last year, as he averaged career-highs in both points per game (16.3) and assists per game (4.8) while shooting 50.2% from the field and 84% from the free-throw strike.

He would certainly provide a major boost to a Knicks team that has a big need in the backcourt, but whether he is the type of star player the team desperately needs remains to be seen.
