Kolten Wong Has Setback, Return Date Pushed Back

Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Jace Peterson celebrates with second baseman Kolten Wong

Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Kolten Wong (calf) took some swings in the cage Tuesday but isn’t expected to resume hitting or running on the field during the current series against the St. Louis Cardinals. According to Brewers manager Craig Counsell, Wong is “starting the process over” after a setback with his calf. The 31-year-old has been sidelined since June 7 and is eligible to return from the injured list. Before landing on the injured list, he slashed .228/.321/.389 with five home runs, 17 RBI, 26 runs, and eight stolen bases over 52 games in 2022. Fantasy managers might have to wait another week before Wong will return to the lineup. Jace Peterson will continue to handle second-base duties while Wong is sidelined.
