Luis Severino Placed On COVID Injured List

Luis Severino

The New York Yankees placed right-hander Luis Severino on the COVID-19 injured list on Thursday and signed right-hander Ryan Weber to a major league contract and added him to the 26-man roster from Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move. Severino was slated to start on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays, but he’ll now be out for an undetermined amount of time. The 28-year-old has been excellent in his 11 starts for fantasy managers this year, posting a 2.80 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 71 strikeouts and 15 walks in 61 innings pitched. Make sure to remove him from your starting lineups and put him in an IL spot until further notice. Right-hander Clarke Schmidt will get the start as an opener in place of Severino on Thursday against Tampa.
