Mekhi Becton and C.J. Uzomah Head To PUP List

The New York Jets have stalled on the runway yet again.

Heading into training camp, numerous contributors have been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Presumptive starting tight end C.J. Uzomah and backup offensive lineman Dru Samia are out with an undisclosed injuries while tackles Mekhi Becton and George Fant are dealing with knee issues. Edge rusher Carl Lawson is still recovering from his Achilles injury, too.

Additionally, Craig James and Greg Senat were placed on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list.

Despite not being a surprise, Becton’s presence on the PUP list is concerning. He’s yet to fully recover from his freak knee injury from Week 1 of 2021. He’s reportedly struggled to maintain an acceptable weight, creating friction between the front office that drafted him and the coaching staff that expects to see him on the field. New York will need him to be healthy if they expect to surpass the 5.5 win total FanDuel has set for them.
