Michael Thomas Returns To The Field Wednesday

Last year, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas tanked fantasy teams that banked on a healthy 2021. A year later, he’ll have the opportunity to make it up to them.

The star wide receiver opened training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list as he recovered from an ankle injury. Thankfully, his stint was quick and he found his way to the practice field on Wednesday. Though he did not participate in full-team work, all signs were positive, an indicator that Week 1 will mark Thomas’ return to regular season action.

Thomas holds the record for most receptions in a single season (149) and will likely return as the No. 1 option for New Orleans. Still, there will be stiffer competition for targets. The Saints brought in both Jarvis Landry and Chris Olave to help diversify their passing attack.

Even if he is not his dominant self (FanDuel has given him +4000 odds to league the lead in receptions), he can still be a vital option over the middle. New Orleans will need a healthy Thomas if they plan on competing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
