Mike Evans suspended for Week 3

Nobody is more consistent than Mike Evans

Eight consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. Eight consecutive 65-catch seasons. Eight consecutive seasons as a dominant no. 1 receiver.

The only constants worth competing with Evans’ production are his recurring hamstring issues and his beef with Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore

Luckily, he survived this year’s hamstring scare and has already logged 132 yards and a score in 2022. He wasn’t so lucky on the other front.

Evans’ one-game suspension was appealed and confirmed this week, meaning he’ll be absent for Sunday’s festivities against the Green Bay Packers. The suspension was subsequent to his role in Week 2’s brawl.

Tensions boiled over after a shoving match between Lattimore, Leonard Fournette, Marcus Maye, and some guy named Tom Brady, After Evans jumped in to blindside his sworn nemesis, all hell broke loose.

In fairness, you can see Evans mouth something to the effect of “That’s Tom Brady, what am I supposed to do?”

Defending your quarterback’s honor is one thing. Targeting a player you have a history with is another. Also, Brady never seems to deal or take any blows, he only instigates them. Maybe his honor should be called into question.

As for Sunday, Evans’ absence is a thorn in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ side. They remain 1.5-point favorites on DraftKings, with -110 odds to cover. That means an $100 wager returns $190.90. Given the hit Tampa’s receiving corps has taken and Green Bay’s vulnerabilities against the run, I like the -140 odds on Brady to fall under 248.5 passing yards.

The best game of the weekend will be without one of its biggest stars. Let Brady’s prop add the excitement Evans has left on the table.
