Mitch Trubisky Has Inside Track On Starting Job

Mitch Trubisky

As the Pittsburgh Steelers enter a new era, one without longtime quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, they turn to a new man to lead the charge. Mitch Trubisky

Despite drafting Kenny Pickett in the first round as well as already having Mason Rudolph in the fold, it’s Trubisky with the inside track to win the starting quarterback job, as he’s been taking almost all of the first team reps this offseason. That’s a concerning reality for a team that has reportedly watched Trubisky struggle, but the expectation remains he’ll be named the starter at some point.

Perhaps the team will look into trading for Jimmy Garoppolo, as the 49ers have made him available for trade, but until then, it’s Trubisky’s job to lose. He won’t inspire a lot of confidence in bettors or fantasy managers, at least not in the beginning. In fact, the Steelers should be a team to avoid until we get more information on them when the season starts. They still have a great defense, but whether the offense can even remain on track with their poor performance in 2021 remains to be seen.

Expect the Steelers to utilize a run heavy offense if the team ends up with Trubisky under center when Week 1 officially kicks off.
