Nick’s Picks: Don’t Sweat Chargers-Chiefs with this SGP

The second week of the NFL season is already upon us which, in the retail world, means the offseason is only a few weeks away. Now thankfully this is not retail, but regardless, FanDuel is offering everyone a chance to bolster their bank accounts on this fine Thursday night, which will inevitably be spent in the retail industry.

All you have to do is sign in to your FanDuel Sportsbook account and visit the promo page to opt into the “No Sweat” promotion. Since it’s absolutely lovely outside, it only makes sense to make a bet that no one will have to sweat out because sweating is such a summertime thing.

Here’s a snazzy, no way this loses Same Game Parlay (SGP) on FanDuel for the first Thursday Night Football game of the season, between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers. You’ll be counting the cash probably halfway through the third quarter, so without further ado, here it is, piece by piece.

Patrick Mahomes OVER 17.5 rushing yards

This one is quite simple. Mahomes likes to take off and run, and he’ll like it even more when staring down the terrifying duo of Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa on the Chargers defensive line. In the last six regular season games, dating back to last season, Mahomes has hit this number in four of them. Against the Chargers, he managed 32 yards on the ground in one game and 45 in the other. Look for Mahomes to flee the pocket regularly, so this might cash on the first drive, end of the first quarter the latest.

Jerick McKinnon OVER 17.5 receiving yards

Building a same game parlay is all about narratives and predicting the game script. Based on this script so far, the Chargers defense will present issues for the Kansas City offense. How do they deal with pressure you ask? Throw the ball to the running backs and get them out in space. This fits McKinnon’s role perfectly and the line is relatively low. In the last four games that he’s received at least one target, McKinnon has gone over this total three times. Expect Mahomes, when he’s not running for his life, to find the backs out of the backfield and let them create plays.

Josh Palmer OVER 45.5 receiving yards

Finally, a Chargers prop. Again, let’s think about game script. Brandon Staley’s team are underdogs tonight. In theory, they will have to throw the ball often and star receiver Keenan Allen is out, which means someone has to step up. While the popular pick is to look at Mike Williams, you will be better off taking a look at Palmer instead. Despite only recording five yards receiving in Week 1, Palmer should expect a nice bump in workload. Better yet, in his only game without Allen, Palmer managed 66 receiving yards on seven targets against the Giants in December last year.

Chargers +3.5 First Half

Thursday night games are wacky, to put it nicely. Home teams typically have the advantage, but the Chargers are in Kansas City to prove a point. They may not win the game, or even cover the full game spread, but expect their best effort in the first half. The Chiefs steamrolled a less-than-stellar Cardinals team on Sunday while the Chargers knocked off a division foe. Los Angeles will want to make a statement early in this one. The defense may tire later on, but it won’t matter because by halftime you’ll have at least one leg with a green check next to it.

“No Sweat” Same Game Parlay Recap

Alright, all together now.

Patrick Mahomes OVER 17.5 rushing yards

Jerick McKinnon OVER 17.5 receiving yards

Josh Palmer OVER 45.5 receiving yards

Chargers +3.5 First Half

+1392

Now that might sound like a lot of overs for some, but this game has a total of 53.5 at the time of this writing. Points will be scored and both offenses are among the best in the league. These lines are fairly low for a game like this, which Amazon paid handsomely for to broadcast. Do you think they’ll let this game be a dud for Amazon’s first game? Exactly.

This parlay pays at +1392, meaning a $100 bet will add another $1,392 to your wallet. Not bad at all. Be sure to opt into the promo on FanDuel’s promo page to see what your max wager is. If the bet settles as a loss, don’t worry it won’t unless something crazy happens, then you’ll receive a free bet in place of your wager amount.

If you don’t have a FanDuel account, be sure to use our link to sign up and get in on the action.

Remember to always bet responsibly. With that out of the way, enjoy Thursday Night Football’s debut on Amazon Prime and the cash that’ll make you a richer individual by the end of the night.
