Ozzie Albies Has Surgery On Fractured Foot

Ozzie Albies

Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies (foot) underwent successful surgery to stabilize a fracture in his left foot on Wednesday. The Braves also put Albies on the 60-day injured list on Tuesday, so he’ll obviously be out for an extended period of time for the Braves and fantasy managers alike. The 25-year-old was hitting .244/.289/.405 with eight home runs, 33 RBI, 34 runs scored and three stolen bases in 263 plate appearances over 62 games. He needs to be stashed in an IL spot in all season-long fantasy leagues. Veteran infielder Orlando Arcia took over at second base on Tuesday and figures to see most of the playing time there in the foreseeable future. The 27-year-old can’t replace the kind of production you were getting from Albies, but he’s hitting a nice .327 on the season in 61 plate appearances and hit his second homer of the year on Tuesday.
