The Kansas City Chiefs have a loaded backfield in training camp and running back Ronald Jones could become the odd man out according to reports. Jones, a former second round pick, was competing for a backup role on the roster during camp, but is instead now fighting to remain on the 53-man roster when the season opens in less than a month.
In the preseason opener, Jones only totaled one rushing yard on four carries. It’s just another sign of potential evidence that the 25-year-old is struggling, while Jerick McKinnon and rookie Isiah Pacheco continue to shine. All reports on Pacheco specifically indicate just how much the team values the seventh round pick, a bad sign for Jones’ ability to break through on the depth chart.
For now, none of these options are fantasy worthy, considering the committee approach the Chiefs will almost certainly take in the regular season. Until one emerges, steer clear.
