Rondale Moore’s Role On The Rise

Rondale Moore

What’s that saying? “Necessity is the mother of invention.”

Yeah, that sounds about right. Well the Arizona Cardinals are finally realizing what they have in wide receiver Rondale Moore, inventing a larger role for him this season. Now of course, most of this is due to the troubles the team will face once they kickoff Week 1 in a month.

Without star receiver DeAndre Hopkins for the first six weeks due to suspension, Moore will have every opportunity to carve out his spot in the offense in what the team hopes will be a breakout campaign. Moore was targeted more than six times in a game twice last season, his two best games.

He caught seven passes for 114 yards and a touchdown over the Vikings and had 11 receptions for 51 yards in late November in a win over the Seahawks. The gadget player for head coach Kliff Kingsbury’s offense, Moore should be used all over the field in 2022, maybe even working out of the backfield at times. While Moore may not have season long value due to Hopkins looming return, he is absolutely worth considering in fantasy drafts, especially if you’re already drafting Hopkins.

From a betting standpoint, it may be best to avoid Moore in prop bet situations, at least for the first week, as it’s unclear whether his role will bring more receiving or rushing output. The Cardinals pass happy offense may point bettors toward the former, but perhaps his role will lead to more production in the latter. Until that is cleared up, stay away.
