Spurs, Hawks Discussing Trade For Dejounte Murray

Dejounte Murray

It’s that time of year again. NBA rumors have kicked into high gear and this time it is potentially San Antonio Spurs guard Dejounte Murray on the move. The Atlanta Hawks are reportedly engaged in trade talks to acquire the star guard.

Previous reports indicated the Spurs would be seeking at least three first-round picks in return, something the Hawks appear to be fine parting with. Previous rumors also indicated that Hawks forward John Collins could be involved in what might have materialized as a three team swap, although that has now cooled. Still, the Hawks could benefit greatly from another All-Star caliber guard alongside Trae Young, who had very little help last season after a breakout year in the 2020-21 season.

Whether the Hawks can finalize a deal remains to be seen, but rumors will continue to swirl with free agency opening up on Thursday. Murray has emerged as an MVP-caliber superstar, finishing the 2021-22 campaign by averaging a career-high 21.1 points, 9.2 assists, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.0 steals. Fantasy managers should continue to expect this time of production even if he ends up being dealt to Atlanta.
