The New York Jets almost saw their season end before it began.
Zach Wilson’s preseason began and ended on the same night after an injury scare. Fortunately, Wilson avoided an ACL tear, but will have to rehab his meniscus tear. He is also resting a bone bruise suffered on the same play.
Year two is significant for Wilson to step us as the franchise guy. His rookie year was ugly and an improved roster will help showcase his talents. Ian Rapoport has reported that Wilson has an “outside chance” to play Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens. If not, former Raven Joe Flacco will take his place. The Jets will be cautious with their quarterback, so he may miss the first couple of weeks if necessary.
FanDuel is offering +900 odds on Wilson and the Jets to crash and burn on their way to the first overall pick. If Wilson plays like he did last year, his eventual return can provide value on that wager.
