Perhaps you’ve had a moment such as the one Courtland Sutton experienced in March. Maybe an unexpected tax refund? Surprise tickets to a Beyonce’ show? The in-laws moving to another continent?
For Sutton, one of the Broncos ridiculously talented young receiver, he awoke to the news that Denver had traded for Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. When you’ve spent the first four seasons of your career fielding passes from the likes of Case Keenum, Joe Flacco, Drew Lock, Brandon Allen and Teddy Bridgewater, the prospects are being thrown to by the likes of Wilson is like buying the winning lottery ticket.
"Our room, an offense, team, we've had a lot of guys come in and contribute and every step that we've had, it's been appreciated. But to be able to have Russ come in and, having the success that he's had, having the knowledge that he has, for us as young guys, all the young talent that we have, that's what we need. We need that guy that's gonna come in and be, you know, him, who he is, what he already brings to the table. We're excited."
Sutton’s best season in Denver was his second in 2019 when he caught 72 balls for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns. But now he has Wilson. Who needs the tax refund or the Beyonce’ tickets? Heck, should Sutton ever get married he might even put up with the in-laws.
