There are divorces you see coming a mile away and splits that are flat our jaw dropping.
Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers were the most successful WR-QB tandem in the NFL. In 108 games the duo hooked up for 622 catches for 5,790 yards and 69 touchdowns. And then Adams had a change of heart. The California native wanted to play closer to home.
Now Adams is wearing a Raiders jersey. His new QB is Derek Carr, a veteran who has posted some good numbers but has never won a Super Bowl, or an MVP award or been an All-Pro. But Adams and Carr were teammates at Fresno State and they have remained good friends.
“Obviously it would be a dream to be able to play with him,” Adams said recently. “But I'm a Packer now.”
He’s a Raider now and dreams do come true. Whether or not Adams-Carr can form an Adams-Rodgers-like connection remains to seen.
One marriage down. One dream come true.
