Jefferson Plants His Flag
The basketball world will always have the 72-win Chicago Bulls and the 73-win Golden State Warriors to debate about. The college football ranks, for the indefinite future, will have the privilege of debating which championship team was truly the best of them all.
"Definitely the best team ever in college football," Jefferson said, regarding his 2019 Louisiana State squad. "We went undefeated. Joe won the Heisman, Ja'Marr won the Biletkinoff."
His evidence is a good start, and his words largely hold true. Jefferson was the No. 2 receiver on one of college football's greatest teams. They put up 63 points in the first round of the College Football Playoffs and took down the Trevor Lawrence-led Clemson dynasty. A host of high draft picks and an offense for the ages will not soon be forgotten.
As Jefferson dominates the NFL, his ties to former teammate Ja'Marr Chase will live on and perpetuate LSU's legacy. Now it's time for him to take home football's most prestigious title, a Super Bowl championship.
