Thomas Paid Tribute To A Legend
Michael Thomas saw lingering injuries shorten his prime and stunt the momentum that came with a record-setting 2019 season. Thomas is yet another lesson in why we should celebrate athletes while they are at the top of their game.
Celebrating, like destroying NFL defenses, is a strength of the wide receiver.
In a 2018 game, Thomas scored a touchdown to put the finishing touches on a 45-35 win. He reached under the padding of the goal post, and like Joe Horn 15 years prior, pulled out a cellphone.
The tribute set Saints fans off into a celebratory craze, though it landed him a 15-yard penalty and a fine a few thousand times more expensive than the phones.
Afterwards, Thomas acknowledged his antics and the risks they carried, but come on, it was a hell of a celebration. Speaking about the phone in question, Thomas only had one thing to say.
"I think Joe Horn left it."
