Good Guy Sam Ehlinger
Every quarterback has their calling card. Josh Allen has his rocket arm and Patrick Mahomes can make any throw from any arm angle. Kirk Cousins can't play in primetime. Baker Mayfield is...annoying.
Sam Ehlinger has one, too, and it fits in well with his mentor Matt Ryan. He's simply a really good dude. We don't know if his profile that landed him in the sixth round will pan out, but Indianapolis fans can be confident they'll continue their tradition of nice guys under center.
This came to fruition during Ehlinger's collegiate career at Texas. After a somewhat controversial handshake with Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray, whose calling card is being short, the Sooner was asked about Ehlinger's game. His response? "No comment on that."
Of course, Ehlinger was asked to rebuttal, with reporters hoping to witness a rivalry refueled.
"I'd like to comment on that. I respect his game."
Ehlinger took the high road, and if his impression on Colts coaches is any sign, it's a trend that will continue deep into his NFL career.
