Wherever you may be at this time, just keep Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin in your thoughts. Between the Bucs, their fans, Tom Brady, fantasy managers, bettors, and Godwin himself, figuring out who is the most upset might take a while. Please respect their space during these trying times.
Godwin, just coming back off a torn ACL, will now miss a few weeks with a hamstring injury. He was questionable heading into last night’s win over the Cowboys because of the ACL, before being cleared to suit up. Godwin was effective early in the contest, hauling in three catches for 35 receiving yards.
After slowly working his way back into the lineup, it’s unclear whether the injury was as a result of getting back into game action too soon. For now, Tampa’s offense will be able to turn to Julio Jones, Russell Gage, and Breshad Perriman to fill the void.
Out of all three, Jones appeared to benefit the most as he was second on the team in targets with five. Jones finished with three catches for 69 yards. Naturally the problem with trusting Jones is that he has not been able to remain healthy for a while.
It seems probable that the team might look for some added help in the receiving room, and if they do, that’s a good indicator on how serious the injury is to Godwin. Almost all of the Buccaneers top receiving options have dealt with an injury during training camp as well, so this is definitely cause for concern.
Godwin adds to what has become a long list of Buccaneer injury problems on offense since Brady came out of retirement. One must wonder how Tom Terrific feels.
For the conspiracy theorists out there, maybe Brady’s wife Gisele is behind the sidelining of these prominent players in an effort to convince Tom to come home and fix their marriage. That’s of course, if you believe the rumors.
