Isaiah McKenzie Could Start For Buffalo

Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis will start on the outside for the Buffalo Bills. The role of starting slot receiver is still up for grabs.

According to Greg Tompsett, Isaiah McKenzie has opened training camp as the starting slot receiver, garnering “virtually all the first-team reps.”

Free agent acquisition Jamison Crowder was seen by many as the shoe-in for the spot. Crowder is a sure-handed slot target known for his dependability, though McKenzie offers more upside with the ball in his hands.

In 2021, McKenzie caught 20 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown. He also received a handful of rushes.

The offense likely won’t ask him to do any heavy lifting, but his limited role will be significant in its presence more than its production. Still, Josh Allen‘s passing yards line is set at 4400.5 (with +100 odds to go over and -120 to fall short) per DraftKings. With that many yards to go around, McKenzie is bound to see an uptick in production, even if it’s by virtue of circumstance.
