Luis Guillorme Out Against Left-Hander

New York Mets starting pitcher Tylor Megill talks to catcher Tomas Nido

New York Mets second baseman Luis Guillorme is not in the starting lineup on Monday against Miami Marlins left-hander Trevor Rogers. Guillorme has gone 8-for-31 (.258) with no home runs and only one RBI in the last two weeks, but overall he’s hitting .320/.404/.383 with a homer, seven RBI and one stolen base in 148 plate appearances over 46 games for the Mets as a solid utility infielder. With the 27-year-old sitting against a southpaw on Monday, Jeff McNeil will get the nod at the keystone and will bat seventh against Rogers. McNeil has gone 16-for-41 (.390) with a homer and seven RBI in the last two weeks, and he’s also hitting .292 with five RBI in 72 plate appearances against lefties in 2022.
