Cobb has been sidelined on the injured list since getting scratched from a June 3 start with a neck strain but he appears to be taking steps in the right direction as it pertains to returning to the field. The veteran has struggled for the Giants this season, posting a 3-2 record, 5.73 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, and 47 strikeouts over 37 2/3 innings of work. If his batting practice session goes well, he could be headed for a rehab assignment, although the Giants have yet to offer a specific timetable.
