Can Justin Herbert help bettors secure an early payout?

Sometimes living in a world of constant instant gratification can be a good thing. Other times, it can be awful. For example, the endless desire for answers or content can be exhausting. What ever happened to being patient and letting things develop? Well, that’s an unfortunate thing of the past.

Maybe someday society will move past the need for 20 second TikTok videos and heal the damaged attention spans of an entire generation, but that’s a story for a different day.

Sports betting is no different though. The “no-run-first-inning,” or “NRFI,” bet is among the most popular of baseball bets, because winning or losing a bet in about 20 minutes is thrilling. With that in mind, our friends at DraftKings decided to make it a football thing as well. For tonight’s matchup between the Chiefs and Chargers, bettors can place a moneyline wager on either team (max $250) and if their team holds a seven point lead at any point during the action, the bet will be settled as a winner.

Whether the team wins or loses no longer matters in this case. It’s a race to seven points. So which team is the better bet? Chargers or Chiefs? Let’s dive in and find out.

Flipping a coin

From the coin toss perspective, neither team holds much of an advantage since both coaches prefer to defer the toss if they win. However, the Chiefs are among the league leaders in coin toss wins every year, meaning that the Chargers are much more likely in this instance to end up with the first possession of the night.

As evidenced by last week’s season opener, the Bills received the opening kick and marched down the field for a touchdown. With both teams trying to make a statement tonight in a competitive AFC West, an opening drive score seems to be likely.

In both of the matchups last season, the Chargers had the ball first, but failed to score in either game. However, this new look Chargers team will look to silence a raucous crowd at GEHA Field. Yeah, saying GEHA will always feel weird.

Regardless, Brandon Staley’s defense is also improved and might make life difficult for Patrick Mahomes early in this game. He’ll not only have to contend with Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa coming off the edge, but also the debut of J.C. Jackson in the secondary, which will present problems both on the ground and through the air.

With the Chargers being underdogs in this one, bettors will not only get the chance at a better payout, but also the team most likely to have the ball first coupled with an impressive defense.

Back Justin Herbert and the Chargers in this one, securing an early payout on DraftKings at +160. If they can find the end zone and go up seven points, the max $250 wager will pay an additional $400. Don’t forget to opt in on the promotions page.

With kickoff set for 8:15 P.M. eastern time, bettors could be celebrating a win not even 10 minutes later. In this case, instant gratification isn’t so bad.

Hello there, I’m Nick Brinkerhoff, a New Jersey native with enough sarcasm and attitude to show I’m not from New York. Despite being Jersey born and bred, I’m a diehard New York sports fan (Jets, Nets, Rangers, Mets) who has seen plenty of losing, but my sports betting ability will hopefully continue to balance those scales. I have season tickets to the Jets but believe it to be more character building than bad asset management. Althoug
