Former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver DJ Chark is knows for his size and speed combination. Now in Detroit, many expect him to play the same role he did in Jacksonville.
Now a few years removed from his 1,000-yard season in 2019, Chark will look to rekindle that fire in his new home. He is a prototypical X Receiver, but offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has toyed with his usage, utilizing him in multiple different spots.
Competing with Amon-Ra St. Brown and, eventually, Jameson Williams for targets, finding an optimized role for Chark will be important. Furthermore, Johnson’s creativity may be necessary due to the contrasting styles of Chark and quarterback Jared Goff.
At worst, these training camp experiments can give the Lions a few new looks to find easy touches for their playmakers. With a projected win total of 6.5 per DraftKings, they should have a lot of pass attempts to play with in 2022.
