NFL Week 5 Rapid Reaction: Don’t waste your money on the AFC South

Good luck betting on the AFC South. Odds are, this writer won’t be joining you anymore. Through a painful five weeks of whatever sport these four teams are playing, let’s join forces, together, and vow to give up and admit defeat. It’s not desirable, but it might just be the most brave action we can take.

This is all part of gambling, responsibly. Just pretend the league is made up of 28 teams from now on. You’ll save yourself plenty of time, stress, and money.

The Colts need to rebuild

The Colts and Broncos played one of the worst games you’ll ever see last Thursday, which is saying a lot considering how much NFL evidence we have from over the years. Matt Ryan went from potentially making an MVP case this offseason, to filing for AARP and checking into nursing homes during the season. It’s a shame, considering how promising this Indianapolis roster could have been, but instead of running away with the AFC South, they are trying to make a run for the top pick in April’s draft. Unfortunately for Frank Reich’s team, the Colts have a ton of competition for that top pick. They are a team in need of a reset, never quite recovering from Andrew Luck’s sudden retirement in the summer of 2019. A revolving door at quarterback hasn’t changed anything and could have delayed the inevitable. The roster is too good to simply bottom out, but Chris Ballard should take a long hard look at his team which clearly needs a better option over the current signal callers they end up settling for.

No quit in Vrabel’s Titans

Congratulations to the Titans. We began the 2022 season with the Colts rightfully being the favorites to win this brutal division, then quickly pivoted to the Jaguars after a hot start to the year. Well, here we are on the third of only four options and Week 6 hasn’t started yet. Right back to where it started last offseason, with the Titans of Tennessee. They aren’t impressive at all, but they have arguably the best player in the division, coupled with a coach that always finds a way to get the job done. It’s hard to not back the Titans to continue to remain at the top of the AFC South.

Erase the Texans vs Jaguars from your memory

They say that honesty is the best policy, and that is part of the reason you see the Texans and Jaguars together here. Let’s face it. You didn’t watch this game. We didn’t watch this game. There were 19 total points scored between the two teams. Unfortunately, they weren’t playing blackjack, where 19 is an acceptable number. Congratulations to Houston for getting their first win of the season, ensuring no team will finish with a ‘0’ in the win column this year. On the flip side, let the great debate begin over whether it’s time to panic about the Jaguars. Trevor Lawrence, for all the good he’s done this year, couldn’t even muster up a touchdown against a team that is tanking. Yikes. It’s almost amazing how fast this season has begun to spiral in northern Florida.

Hello there, I’m Nick Brinkerhoff, a New Jersey native with enough sarcasm and attitude to show I’m not from New York. Despite being Jersey born and bred, I’m a diehard New York sports fan (Jets, Nets, Rangers, Mets) who has seen plenty of losing, but my sports betting ability will hopefully continue to balance those scales. I have season tickets to the Jets but believe it to be more character building than bad asset management. Althoug
