Nick’s Picks NFL Week 5: Longshot TD Parlay heads to TE University

Last week, we came within a Christian Kirk and Darnell Mooney touchdown away from glory. That was all that was standing between us and a +12915 cash on a fine Sunday afternoon. Both of them had chances, but neither could capitalize. It’s certainly less than ideal, but this is a new week, meaning new opportunity.

Onward. Forward.

There’s a reason that Ted Lasso is such a great coach, or manager, and those two words right there are a great example of that. Lasso points out that goldfish are the happiest animals in the world because their memory is only 10 seconds. So let’s be a goldfish and dive into Week 5’s longshot parlay of the week.

Tyler Conklin (NYJ) +360

Tyler Conklin has been quietly productive for the Jets this season, recording at least five targets in every game. Considering the Jets other offensive weapons, that is fairly significant, especially since Zach Wilson will probably look to lean on him as the season moves along. With Conklin having a larger role on offense while fellow tight end C.J. Uzomah takes a backseat, look to upgrade him against a tight end friendly Miami Dolphins defense. The Dolphins are ranked in the bottom third of the league when it comes to defending that position, giving Conklin a great chance to find the end zone. Considering Conklin’s involvement and a generous Dolphins defense, getting +360 is a steal.

David Njoku (CLE) +300

When it comes to the Browns and David Njoku, the logic continues to be simple. Jacoby Brissett will look his way and the stats reflect that. Njoku has recorded at least 70 receiving yards in each of the last two games and came awfully close finding the end zone multiple times last week. +300 is great value for someone that’s getting all of this attention in the red zone, making this a worthy selection for the longshot parlay.

Zach Ertz (AZ) +230

If you watch Arizona Cardinals football, especially without DeAndre Hopkins, you’ll notice a few things. The offense is horrific most of the time without Hopkins, but Zach Ertz consistently finds the end zone, especially if the team gets inside the 10 yard line. Factor in that this is a revenge game for Ertz against his former team, the Eagles, and now you have something cooking. Sometimes the stats can only tell so much of the story. In this case, the narrative lines up with the stats. There is no doubt that Kyler Murray will help Ertz find a way to celebrate against the Eagles. Getting +230 on this leg feels like a robbery. Thankfully, the sportsbooks are fine with letting the crime go on.

Tyler Higbee (LAR) +220

This is another bet that the narrative tells the whole story. That’s our focus this week, picking the right narratives. Rams’ quarterback Matthew Stafford was heavily criticized for locking in on Cooper Kupp as his only receiver so in Week 4 he decided to expand that focus to Tyler Higbee as well. Higbee found himself targeted a whopping 14 times on Monday night, two of them coming inside the Niners’ 10 yard line. With Stafford looking his way, it’s impossible to discount Higbee now going forward. He is the perfect way to cap off our tight end specific, longshot touchdown parlay of the week.

Parlay +19330

This week’s longshot comes out to +19330, meaning a $100 bet would win an additional $19,330. It’s important to note that this is a longshot, so exercise caution in your wager amount by properly managing your bankroll so we can stay in the game longer. Good luck, happy betting, and always play responsibly. Let’s cash the Tight End University parlay

Basic Tips

When betting a parlay, you’re betting on all of the selected outcomes and in order for you to win, they all have to win too. For example, if Tyler Higbee scores a touchdown, but Zach Ertz does not, the bet will lose. It’s important to keep your wager amount within your means, especially in this case of betting a longshot parlay.

Despite being Jersey born and bred, I’m a diehard New York sports fan (Jets, Nets, Rangers, Mets) who has seen plenty of losing, but my sports betting ability will hopefully continue to balance those scales. I have season tickets to the Jets but believe it to be more character building than bad asset management. Althoug
