Patriots See “Dramatic” Improvement From Mac Jones

Mac Jones, New England Patriots throwing the ball

When New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick speaks, everyone listens. Well, that’s at least partly due to the fact that he hardly ever speaks in the first place. Regardless, according to Belichick, he has seen quarterback Mac Jones make “dramatic” improvements heading into year two.

Jones has focused on his diet and body in particular, but improvements on the field will be needed as well, despite a good rookie season, to keep up with a up-and-coming AFC East. Belichick said Jones’, “offseason work has been significant.” The former Alabama star will enter year two with a slightly improved receiving core after the team acquired DeVante Parker from Miami this offseason.

Jones will enter 2022 with pressure to not only deliver a season that compares to his rookie year, but one that exceeds that as well. Since his “floor” was set so high, it will be up to the Patriots to ensure that the ceiling is raised even higher to keep up with big expectations. Conventional wisdom says to expect regression this season from New England and their young quarterback, despite all the offseason hype. Jones is worth a fantasy flier, but his value is downgraded by his lack of rushing ability. However, the best bet of all could be to look into some unders bets regarding the Patriots win total, and Jones’ futures bets.
